New Orleans!!

Well it's been some time since writing on this. I need to move my "model" picture down the line so its not the first thing people see! So last week was very eventful. On monday, we drove to Grandma and Grandpa Zimmerman's house and visited for a couple of days, allowing Emma to get comfortable with the surroundings. Joe and I left Wednesday to Houston to catch a flight to New Orleans for a Dental Convention.

Joe researched in the summer and he was now presenting his findings there by making a huge poster and standing next to it for 2 hours :) His presentation was on Thursday and we were in town till Saturday morning.

It was so fun! Our hotel was in the French Quarter, like 2 blocks from Bourbon St...which I don't recommend going down after dark.

But it was cool to see the city and something new. There is a lot of history and culture there...not to mention lots of restaurants!! I sucked it up and ate at a couple of New Orleans' style sea food places. I ate Alligator sausage, crab cake and shrimp...blah! (the alligator was actually really good!) So it was a nice vacation for Joe and I.

Emma, on the same hand, had a great time with her grandparents and uncles. She loves to be outside so that's where she was everyday. She played with Rocky, their dog, fed him food and chased him around the backyard. I think he was probably a bit annoyed by her but he's old so I guess he didn't care. When we met Grandma in Houston, Emma was so relieved to see us! She wouldn't let go of Joe and I. So overall, it was an awesome trip and so glad we did it! I was a little worried that Emma would have a hard time without us but I guess she adapts pretty fast.

Big Long Day

Well Saturday was a very big day. We drove down town to the Healthy Child and Baby Expo at the Convention Center. Usually we wouldn't go to things like this but this day was different. I had volunteered to model maternity clothes from Destination Maternity for their fashion show. I got some free stuff and admission. It was kind of cool since I've never modeled before so it was kind of fun. We got there around 2:30 and I had to go and get dressed and made up for the show at 3:30. I think Joe and Emma walked around the expo and went outside and walked around too. I don't think he had the most fun but I'm sure glad that they both were there. Joe puts up alot for me...:) So the show came on and I modeled 2 outfits, as seen in the pictures. Joe was the photographer and he took 3 pictures so those are the best we got...Joe, I love ya, but more pics next time! And afterwards we walked around the Expo, getting free stuff from all the sponsers and finally, I was ready to go. We got to see the ground around the Tower of America, which is really pretty. We never went over there before so that was kind of nice. So it was good times this past Saturday.

Whenever Emma is in a place where she shouldn't be, she tries to smile or laugh her way in. From the pictures, this is a perfect example of where she isn't allowed. She got up on my craft table and instead of coming down, she smiles and laughs and it's just no big deal...I wonder where she got that from?

Side note: Emma loves putting this bucket on her head. I guess cause it fits it perfectly...and maybe it's our reaction too. And she's exploring the world of magnets!
Well some exciting news! I was so fortunate to call the doctor yesterday, to check the activity of my insurance, and find that it was activated so I'm like, well i'd like to make an appointment then. So she first schedules me for a normal check up with the doctor but I was like, well the one appointment I had to cancel was a sonogram appt. so does that matter? I think it's time for me to do it. At first, she's like, there aren't any available for a couple weeks but we have a routine check up available tomorrow at 10...oh wait, hold on, there might be a sono open tomorrow too. And minutes later, sure enough, there was! It was so awesome to get the next day! So I was able to go in and see the baby moving. We are happy to say that we are having another girl and we are so excited! I think it'll be so fun to have 2 little girls together. She's healthy and active...just like Emma...I was hoping this next one would be a bit more calm but we'll see :) So we're just happy and glad that it's all worked out and our insurance dilema is over. And I guess our new due date is later July, like in the 20s. So from what I just wrote, the doctor isn't exactly sure on a positive due date so we're going to keep an eye on it each month. But hurray hurray!

I'm a showing mama

Well, this was taken a week ago or so...and it's pretty obvious that I'm pregnant now. Today, I'm 19 weeks along. I wish I could tell ya'll what we're having but...we're having some difficulty with our insurance. Anyone who has dealt with Medicaid probably knows what i'm going through right now. In a quick version, here's what's going on:
I applied for Medicaid back in Dec. I got approved and recieved medicaid cards for both Dec. and Jan since it was the end of Dec when we finally heard from them. So I was able to see a doctor at like week 15,..and make another appointment for this coming Monday for an ultrasound to find out what we're having. Beginning of Feb comes along and no card. Go to the office, which is a pain, to see what's going on and I find that i've been un-approved. They supposedly sent out information to us that then was sent back to them so they canceled my coverage. So beginning of Feb, I applied again. Heard from my case worker finally a few days ago to turn in a copy of our lease, which I did that day...and now we wait. I was going to drive down to the office again to see if they could possibly speed things up so I could attend my Mon appointment but they like to go at a snail's speed over there...It's just tough cause Joe doesn't have school on Monday either so it would have worked out perfectly. So now we're just waiting and i'll have to reschedule. Hopefully if it's a good day and in the afternoon, maybe JOe can come but we have no idea. So now the fun of finding out what it'll be has been killed. I think if this would have been the first time, I would have been freaking out and crying but now I know how freaking long pregnancies are...I know i'll find out eventually. It's just frustrating, that's all. So hopefully soon, i'll let ya'll know the outcome of this soap opera of a life that I live.

The Makings of an Arteeest

When Emma discovered crayons, she went nuts. She loves the concept of making marks on paper, cardboard, cement, plastic...our BBQ...anything that she can get her pudgy lil' hands on. Since she's still an amateur at it, she's figuring out the best position to hold them and the most comfortable position to sit in. So these pictures can explain themselves. She was quite focused on drawing that she really wouldn't cooperate for a decent smile...but that's ok. I love the serious, expressions that she comes up with. It's her face and she can do as she pleases...but as long as it pleases me too! :)
