i got in a fight with a lawn mower...

ok soooooooo.....
a few things I've learned from this..
-take serious advice seriously.
-research your options and listen to recommendations
-don't rush it
-hair DOES grow back
-find a friend who will fix your hair and make it look fabulous.

So yesterday, Joe's day off, I went to town to cut my hair.
Oh, how did I find the salon?
I called around all the salons and the first one that answered and had an opening, that's who I went with...very very stupid.

So i'll spare the details of the experience but when I came home, this is what my hair looked like:

Don't you love my face in this?  it was reflection of what was both inside and outside...

Today, I attempted to fix it myself...to no avail.

So I emailed a friend here in the ward, Noelle aka, the saint, and I went over there tonight and she fixed it right up.  I LOVE how it looks now:

I love this a-line haircut.
What took me so long to cut it like this?

blowing a kiss valentine.

I bet you've seen this all over the net around this time of year.  I thought it was the cutest thing.
So about a week ago, I had an idea...
and I came up with this :)

It's pretty simple to make too!
I took 100s a picture of my daughter, pretending to blow a kiss...this is the best we could come up with and I think it looks darn cute!

Then in Picasa, I added Text and then printed the pics at Walmart.

Then i mounted on some white paper and stuck a hershey kiss on it!

I think I am more excited about them than my daughter...such is life :)

struggles makes up stronger...right?

Argh!
I am not even going to try to be suave about my life right now.
It's difficult.
Some of you already know from Facebook that I am dealing with Kate's night waking.  She likes to wake up 1-2 times a night, crying that she needs to go potty.
So i've been working really hard to make sure she can do everything by herself.  No helping with wiping pee pee, or washing hands.  She needs to do this by herself, right?
She used to not do this.  But I know it's because of the move and all the changes we are going through.  So I just need to be patient with it.  It's just hard not getting a full night's sleep.

So with that, I need to go to bed earlier, right?
sigh, that would be so nice right?
Nights are tricky for me since it's MY time away from little hands, whinings, crying and wiping snotty noses.
So i want to indulge in it.  So it gets really difficult to cut it short and go to bed.
And another thing.
In the morning, due to my staying-up-late choice, it's really hard to get up.
the kids have been sleeping til about 7:45 am.
They've always been my alarm clocks.
Yet with Emma having preschool at 8:30 AM, I now have to get up BEFORE they wake up.
Talk about HARD.
What has happened to me?!
Seriously, I miss having a nursing baby.  I would be up by 7 to take on the day.
Now I am struggling at 8 am.
I need to pump up my self-disipline!
So i am at an unfamiliar crossroads.
It's time to be an adult Lyssa.
Being a mom of 3, it's about time you wake up, get ready or get things done before they wake up.
Let's be that mom that is happy, chipper, DRESSED (maybe even showered....but let's not get too carried away)
Because i want to be that mom.  really, I do.  It's just HARD to change habits, you know?
Joe's been advacating this movement for a while, especially the going to bed early one, because he does usually and hates to go to bed alone.
and now he has to be at work by 7, which means he sets the alarm by 5:15, those mornings and days do a dozy on me!

So I need to step up my game.  I need to make goals and stick with them.
These goals are meaningful and important for me and my family.

Okay, onto another topic:
haircutting.
What do you do when you want to cut your hair SHORT so it's easy to manage but you know your husband prefers long hair.

I just want a change, a big drastic one that I am not used to.
This second is just too close to what I ususally do.
boring.
I hate that I am stuck in a "comfortable 2002" hair style.
I need to break out.

wow.

kate all dressed up to go on a date with daddy to go see Beauty & the Beast at the High Schoolhow did I get blessed with such a beautiful girl?
Look at her.
i'm speechless at that face.
those cheeks...
those dimples!
Kate, I love you.

baby back ribs recipe.

i thought it would be an appropriete time to post this fab recipe for the super bowl and such. this is the best ribs i've ever tasted. My husband is the mastermind behind it. i could eat the whole rib if he'd let me.  we have been eating these for about 6 years and they never disappoint.

Items needed:
-babyback ribs
-1 T margarine,
-1 T honey,
-2 T brown sugar,
-2 T applejuice

oven: 250

Step 1:
remove membrane from concave surface of ribs.  this is a bit tricky at first but once you get a good grip of it, it comes right off. but I personally hate this part.  I hate raw meat....blah...

Step 2:
place ribs on drip pan concave surface up and cover (with foil)

Step 3:
bake for 2 hours

Step 4:
remove from oven and scrape off scum layer from ribs

Step 5:
place ribs in foil, concave surface up to wrap them then spread the following:
warm up 1 T margarine, 1 T honey, 2 T brown sugar, 2 T applejuice and spread over concave surface

Step 6:
seal off foil

Step 7:
bake another 2 hours at 250

Step 8:
remove from oven and increase temp to 350

Step 9:
pour off excess juice
coat ribs with moderate coat of BBQ sauce and bake 10 min on one side

Step 10:
remove can place 2nd coat of BBQ sauce (final coat so put the amount you want), flip over and bake 10 min

you're done!
Serve with rice or potatoes or anything you want!
