I miss all the fun wedding planning with my BFF sister, Jenny :(
(She picked the one closest to her hand :) )
These pictures tell it all. Here they are ring shopping. And when I say "they", I mean Jenny, Katie and the soon-to-be Ashley Terry (my brother's fiance). But it doesn't stop there. They gone dress shopping, planning showers, having fun "bonding with new in-laws" get-togethers..it's so sad that i'm not there to help and be apart of my family! But I am excited to see them for 2 weeks in September. Only scary thing will be flying alone with 2 kids..yikes!
So here's my question, How do you travel alone with 2 kids? Can any of you give me advice, tips, tricks to have a smooth flight?! I would love to hear anything?!

Been there done that with two kids and my main advice would be to have TONS of snacks (you can't be worried about "ruining dinner" when you are traveling!)
Also, I bought the boys a special little something that they didn't get until the flight and only once they were getting really bored. I had bought those note pads that kids can color with using one marker, but it makes different colors as they use it. Does that make sense?
Also, you MUST have a stroller, don't try to carry everything with you, and if you can manage bringing a DVD player that would be great!
Your kids are so cute that I am SURE you will have volunteers to help out (especially flying to UT!! There's always grandparents that love babies!)
Good luck though. Hope some of this helps. The times I worry the most end up being times that the kids surprise me with great behavior. Don't forget to pray:)(for your sanity)
Congrats Jenny! That is exciting.
It will be sad when the day comes that I can't help be there to plan my sister's wedding, but to put things in perspective... at least both sets of grandparents don't live in other countries. Not only is that hard but it's also hard on your wallet!
As far as traveling with 2 kiddos... I wouldn't know but I do know how to travel across the atlantic with one and it SUCKS. Be prepared to be miserable. I'm sorry. The flight isn't as long so maybe you will be okay...
Bring all new toys, but small ones, if possible. Color wonder markers are great. DVD player. (Maybe deprive your kids of TV for a week before so they are more excited to watch). Pack more diapers than you think you will need and a change of clothes. I have yet to find diapers or wipes in an airport. Luckily Utah is not too far away and it will all be over soon and well worth the stress!
Oh and try out benadryl on your kids beforehand. Maybe it will help them sleep. It makes some kids hyper though. It doesn't work either way on Bryn. :( You could also ask your pediatrician for advice and dosage.
Don't worry, it won't be as bad as you think. I went to Target and got a bunch of the cheap travel things like the toothbrush holders, contact cases, those pill holder things with the days of the week on them(I put smarties in each slot.) Also they have these cute foam like sticky alphabet letters or animals that my kids love sticking on anything they can. I also took a little dvd player and headphones. Everything I took was new, something they had never seen before. New treats and snacks are good too! My boys loved those suckers you get at the gas station that are pink and blue(they're powdery and they don't make too much of a mess.) Anyway, can you tell I've done it before?? Good luck! It will be so fun to go home, so worth the flight.
PRAY PRAY PRAY!
Honestly, if you can remain patient and calm, you can conquer the ride.
Much love and sympathy,
amber
LOL I picked the one far away from my hand....kind of. I designed my own ring Lyssa....I just kinda got the ideas of both. hahahah I miss you sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much. wah wah wah I'm seriously sad you aren't here. But i'm holding off on ALL showers for you to be here with me. I need my little sissy! I can't wait to see the girls. I love you so much.
One thing that I saw in Parents mag that I thought would be a good idea was to string fruit-loops or an other stringable snack and make a necklace.
And you will definately need a stroller.
sorry that you have been sick and sorry for that psycho b that complained about your blankies and sorry that you feel left out :(
you will get better and you will find someone who realized how precious they are and YOU WILL BE HERE SOON so keep smiling and know that i love you and that we're not doing too much stuff that's really even that great!
That must be hard feeling like your missing out on everything. That's how my sister in Utah feels, because the rest of the family is in Texas and we are always doing stuff without her.
Good question with the traveling!!! I love Jaime's advice! She definitly had some good tips, I think I might steal some of those!
Good luck with traveling! Tell me how it goes! I have to travel with two in October, but luckily Paul will be with me, but I'm already freaking out!
It's so hard to be out of the loop! I totally can relate!! I'm glad you can get out there next month, though.
Traveling with little kids: Food, food, and more food. I've flown quite a bit with the boys, even all by myself with all three coming back from Canada in July! I always make sure to pack lots of non-filling snacks that they love. And when they start to wiggle and get bored of the couple books and toys that I also brought, then -- whoopie! -- pull out a new snack!
I also bought some new books or activities from the Dollar store, so that on each leg of the journey they got to open a new present.
You'll do great!
